PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain highly versatile camera and to reduce the cost of a network system by providing an interface (I/F) circuit for supplying a control command to a timing control circuit and sending a picture signal to a communication line. SOLUTION: An I/F circuit 17 receives an information packet transmitted on a communication line L and supplies control information to a timing control circuit 13. A network address allocated as an only address on a network is set up in the circuit 17 and matching between the address and a transmitted destination address annexed to the information packet on the line L is detected to receive the information packet. The circuit 17 converts compressed picture data inputted from a digital signal processing circuit 16 into a format to meet a communication protocol and sends the format-converted data to the line L. A client system is connected to the line L so as to access the image pickup device based on the network address.
