PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Fe-Ni alloy stock for shadow mask, having excellent property of piercing by etching so that all of small pits, large pits, and medium pits have superior roundness. SOLUTION: The Fe-Ni alloy stock for shadow mask has a composition consisting of, by weight, 34-38% Ni and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities or accompanying elements (where the contents of C, Si, Al, Mn, S, and P are limited to <=0.10%, <=0.05%, <=0.05%, <=0.5%, <=0.005%, and <=0.005%, respectively). In this stock, the component ratio A of (200) plane diffraction intensity at the surface before piercing by etching is regulated to 55-70% and the component ratio B of (200) plane diffraction intensity at a position at a depth of 5μm from the surface is regulated to 70-85% [where (B-A)/A<=0.4 is satisfied], and further, fluctuations in the component ratio of (200) plane diffraction intensity in the sheet-thickness central part from the position at a depth of 5μm are regulated to <=5%.
