An industrial seal is used in combination with a shaft (5) which rotates on a defined eccentric axis, exceeding that of the true central axis by a value (e). The shaft is sealed against a surrounding housing by a slip ring (2) with an end-face (3') which is a sealed zone eccentric to the center axis M2. During operation, the mating ring (1) sealing zones (3, 3') remain in the same axis, preventing the ingress of foreign bodies.
