A transport device or tray with several receptacles (1) for accommodating individual electronic components (2), includes a transponder (6) which contains read-out data for identifying the tray and/or its contents. The transponder (6) is mounted in one (5) of the receptacles and can be retrieved intact from this receptacle. The transponder is more specifically placed in a housing (8) which corresponds to the standardised housing (SDJ) of the component (2).
