PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide damping members with an excellent damping property in the purpose using a light load, and to provide a unit building composed by providing neighboring building units, which has an excellent damping property, never sways the building unit itself, and never sinks the floor, when a parson walks. SOLUTION: This damping member is composed by laminating a high polymer sheet having the shearing elasticy of 0.1 to 30 MPa at 20 deg.C and 60 Hz, and the loss tangent of 0.2 to 2.0 at 20 deg.C and 10 to 500 Hz; and a metal sheet having the Young's modulous of 1.0×10<11> to 4.5×10<11> N/m<2> ; alternately, and making the high polymer sheets in both outer layers, and the total thickness of the high polymer sheets is 50 to 90% of the thickness of the damping member, while the thickness of the metal sheet is 20 to 100% of the thickness of the high polymer sheets. In this unit building composed by providing neighboring building units whose beams of the floors are composed of wooden system members, the above damping member is held between the beams of the floors of the neighboring building units.
