Actions performed when one or more virtual-machine-deployment instructions are executed are exposed. The actions can subsequently be analyzed to identify potential inefficiencies or other issues in the process of deploying one or more virtual machines. In furtherance thereof, metadata associated with the actions, such as performance information, can also be attached to relevant actions.

1. A method of facilitating virtual-machine-deployment analysis, comprising:
employing at least one processor configured to execute computer-executable instructions stored in memory to perform the following acts:
receiving one or more declarative, virtual-machine-deployment instructions, wherein the one or more instructions are configured to invoke a process that achieves a predetermined end result regarding deployment of one or more virtual machines on one or more host machines;simulating execution of the one or more instructions, wherein the simulating follows execution logic of the process and reports one or more actions that would be performed during non-simulated execution to achieve the predetermined end result;determining a failure rate for a process instruction invoked by one of the one or more virtual-machine-deployment instructions; andexposing the failure rate in conjunction with a corresponding action of the one or more actions.
