FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves recording electrocardiograms taken from patient in standing and lying position during 3 min. Cardiac interval durations are determined, rhythmogram is built and its spectral analysis is done, both absolute and relative spectral characteristics describing contribution to the total spectral power of each of three cardiac rhythm oscillation spectrum components are calculated as VLF for very low frequency component, LF for low frequency component, HF for high frequency component. Relative values are calculated from known formulas in percents of total power of cardiac rhythm oscillations. Pathologic cases of vegetative cardiac rhythm regulation are determined in comparing relative spectral characteristics in rest and in performing active orthostatic test. EFFECT: wide range of applications; detectable signs of cardiac rhythm vegetative regulation disorders including insidious cases. 6 dwg, 3 tbl
