PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor screen having high luminance and high resolution by using phosphors having different average particle diameters from each other and the same luminescent color for the phosphor screen and forming a mixed layer of the phosphors having different average particle diameters wherein the phosphors having the smaller average diameter are interlaid between the phosphors having the larger average diameter. SOLUTION: When a phosphor screen is formed by means of a setting method, firstly, a bulb 3 is arranged by orienting its face plate 1 downward, and a certain quantity of cushion water 12 is poured into the bulb 3. Next, a uniform suspension solution(suspended solution) formed from a small particle phosphor having the average diameter of 2-8μm, preferably 2-4μm, for instance, a green phosphor, a nearly 25% water-glass(binder) water solution, and hot water is poured into the cushion water 12. In addition, after a certain period of time, a uniform suspension solution formed from a large particle phosphor having the average diameter of 8-12μm and hot water is poured, and thereafter, the phosphors are deposited on the inside surface of the face plate 1 by keeping it still for about 30 minutes. and stuck to the inside surface of the face plate 1 by a predetermined reaction product. so that a phosphor layer 13 is formed and dried.
