A drive condition setting device which is applied to an optical scanning device comprising a fiber for irradiating an observation object with illumination light, and a drive mechanism for vibrating the tip of the fiber in an x direction and a y direction detects the scanning trajectory of the illumination light emitted from the fiber, measures the respective resonance frequencies in the x direction and the y direction of the fiber, and on the basis of the resonance frequencies, determines a drive frequency and a drive voltage as drive conditions for a drive mechanism in such a way that the scanning trajectory falls within a predetermined range with respect to a target amplitude and the following conditional expressions are satisfied: If fx>fy, fd<fy and Vx≥Vy … (1) or fd>fx and Vx≤Vy … (2), whereas if fx≤fy, fd<fx and Vx≤Vy … (3) or fd>fy and Vx≥Vy … (4) where fd is the drive frequency, fx is the resonance frequency in the x direction, fy is the resonance frequency in the y direction, Vx is the maximum voltage of a drive signal in the x direction, and Vy is the maximum voltage of the drive signal in the y direction. |
