PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separately set the force pushing a contact cover to a contact base from the contact pressure of a terminal of a semiconductor element in the contact for the a semiconductor element and the usage thereof. SOLUTION: A contact for semiconductor element is formed of a contact base 20 having contact electrodes 16 and a first abutment part 18, a cover 26 having a holding part 22 for holding a semiconductor element and a second abutment part 24, and a latching mechanism. When the cover is moved toward the contact base, a terminal 14 of the semiconductor element 12 held by the holding part 22 is brought into contact with the contact electrodes 16 first, and the first abutment part 18 and the second abutment part 24 abut on each other in the condition in which the terminal of the semiconductor contacts with the contact electrodes so as to block the further moving of the cover toward the conductor base.
