PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject graft copolymer excellent in compatibility with other polymers and useful as a compatibilizing agent on mixing polymers by providing a specific structure. SOLUTION: This graft copolymer of a syndiotactic styrene/p-methylstyrene copolymer, is obtained by providing a structure of the formula [R1, R2 are each H, an alkyl, a primary haloalkyl or a secondary haloalkyl; X is a halogen, a metal, a functional group containing one or more kinds selected from O, S, Si, N, C and P; Y is a polymer part; (a) is 10-30,000; (b) is 0-30,000; (c) is 10,000-30,000]. The copolymer is produced e.g. by a method, etc., of bonding a component (A) with a component (B) by reacting (A) the copolymer of a syndiotactic styrene/p-alkylstyrene made to have a functional group with (B) a polymer capable of reacting with the functional group in the component (A). Further, as the graft copolymer, it is preferable to use those produced by using a metallocene catalyst.
