PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device which has a simple structure and controlling method, and a variable nozzle port area with high reliability. SOLUTION: When fuel of low pressure is introduced, an upper surface of a movable valve 152 is pressurized with small pressure of the fuel and a contraction rate of an elastic member 15 is small. As a result, an opening area of an inlet of a nozzle 13 on the side of a valve chamber 11 of a nozzle 113 is decreased by a valve element, for injecting a small amount of fuel. When high pressure fuel is introduced, high pressure of the fuel is applied to the upper surface of the valve body, and the contraction rate of the elastic member is increased. As a result, the opening area of the inlet of the nozzle 113 on the side of the valve chamber 111 is not decreased by the valve body, for injecting a large amount of fuel.
