PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved high-contract silver halide photographic material having development latitude developable at a comparatively low temperature and in a comparatively short time and not containing any nucleator. SOLUTION: This silver halide photographic material comprises a silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains and hydrophilic colloid in a silver to hydrophilic colloid ratio of >1.9 and a support for supporting the emulsion layer, and the emulsion layer or the adjacent hydrophilic colloidal layer contains a density-enhancing amine compound, and at least 60% of the silver halide grains are spectrally sensitized, and contains no nucleator. The photographic image can be formed by developing the imagewise-exposed material at a temperature of <=35 deg.C for a time of <=25 sec.
