PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical body passing detector and the utilization device capable of detecting the normal direction passing/reverse direction passing of spherical bodies such as pachinko balls by simple constitution. SOLUTION: This spherical body passing detector 190 detects that the spherical body 10 passes through a passage 150A by a detection part 151. When the detection surface part 151x of the detection part 151 is provided with an appropriate inclinationθ1, a difference is generated between the waveform of the front edge side (r) and the waveform of the rear edge side (s) of detection signals 151a. Since the waveform is changed to a normal direction waveform 151a1 and a reverse direction waveform 151a2 by the passing direction of the spherical body 10, the passing direction is discriminated based on the difference of the waveform. The waveform similar to the one of the detection signal 151a can be obtained also by adjacently arranging the first detection part 151 of large detection output and the second detection part 151 of small detection output and synthesizing the output of the two detection parts 151. As this utilization device, a spherical body counting controller 200/a pachinko stand island device 500 or the like for performing the addition/subtraction counting of the spherical body, flow passage control and alarm control based on the discrimination of the passing direction can be provided.
