PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment discoloration preventive method capable of stably maintaining various pigments without discoloring its color tone and to obtain a pigment discoloration preventive composition which has excellent color tone stability and exerts sufficiently pigment discoloration preventive effect even in a polymeric compound-containing composition system. SOLUTION: This pigment discoloration preventive method is characterized by blending an aniongiving substance of 7 or more in the complexion constant log KMA between at least one kind of metal ions selected from Cu, Fe and Ni and the substance. The pigment discoloration preventive composition is characterized by blending a pigment with the anion-giving substance in a range of pH 3-10.
