PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the image pickup field of data extracted from an image pickup means to any arbitrary even-numbered or odd-numbered field. SOLUTION: An image pickup device 100 has a solid-state imaging device 30 provided with a scanning means for extracting image pickup data once within a prescribed time and extracting partial image pickup data at one part of image pickup data K times (K is an integer >=2) in a second mode, mode setting means 85 for setting any one of the first and the second modes, field setting means 81 for setting the image pickup field of partial image pickup data to any one of even-numbered and odd-numbered fields by the respective K times of extraction, signal processing means 55 for generating a video signal S42 by performing signal processing based on the partial image pickup data, and image display device 90 for displaying an image based on the video signal S42. A central control circuit 80 controls the entire image pickup device 100.
