PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent which has an excellent biodegradability, is environmentally friendly and comprises a nonionic surfactant having a specific material property without using a polyoxyalkylene alkylphenyl ether, which gives bad effects on pollution of rivers and their ecological system because of its poor biodegradability. SOLUTION: This detergent comprises a nonionic surfactant having a hydrophobic group, an oxyethylene group and an oxypropylene group which surfactant satisfies formula I: [HLB]>15.7×[SP]-135 and formula II: [CP]>195×[SP]-1,767 (wherein [HLB], [SP] and [CP] are the HLB, the solubility parameter and the clouding point of the nonionic surfactant, respectively).
