PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-priming pump no allowing liquid flowing inside a discharge opening to be in a vortex flow. SOLUTION: This self-priming pump 1 is composed of a tank room 18 equipped with a suction room 20 provided with a suction opening for sucking liquid and a discharge room 26 provided with a discharge opening 26 for discharging the liquid, a pump unit 6 equipped with a pump room 19 for accommodating an impeller 10 in a rotatable manner, and a drive motor 9 for rotating the impeller 10. by rotating the impeller 10, pumping operation is conducted through a self-priming process of gradually discharging air as mixing up air and the liquid inside the pump 6. A straightening plate 31 for discharging the liquid conveyed in a voltex flow through the discharge opening 26 after straightening the flow in a linear flow is formed near the discharge opening 26 of the discharge room 21.
