PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube which can keep focus characteristics of an electron beam across a phosphor screen and restrain ellipse distortion of an electron beam spot across the phosphor screen. SOLUTION: A first and a second quadrupole sections are formed between a pre-focus lens section and a sub-lens section, and between the sub-lens section and a main lens section, respectively, for deflecting an electron beam to the periphery of a phosphor screen. A second grid G2 of the pre-focus lens section has horizontally lengthwise non-circular slots 102B, 102R, 102G horizontal direction at a circumference of an electron beam passage hole arranged between the second grid G2 and a first segment G3-1 of a third grid G3. The first segment G3-1 of the third grid G3 has horizontally lengthwise non-circular slots 103B, 103R, 103G at a circumference of an electron beam passage hole arranged between the second rid G2 and a first segment G3-1 of a third grid G3.
