摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cutting tool employing a material of less abrasion and chipping of the edge regardless of wet or dry type. SOLUTION: With regard to a cutting tool including a cutting edge made of a high speed tool steel, the high speed tool steel contains, by weight %, C: 0.6 to 1.8%, Si: less than 1.2%, Mn: less than 0.5%, Cr: 3.5 to 5.0%, Mo: less than 10%, and W: less than 21%, and, further contains, by weight %, V: 2 to 4%, Co: 7 to 10%, or V: 4 to 6%, and Co: 4 to 9% with the rest composed of Fe and unavoidable impurities, while the maximum equivalent circular diameter of an MC type carbide particle in the edge steel is 5 to 14μm and the ratio of the length to the breadth of the particle section of the MC type carbide particle of the equivalent circular diameter of 5 to 14μm is 0.3 or more.
