PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw rotating device using a dry babbitt, by which the converging characteristic of adjustment, the realibility can be improved and the cost can be reduced. SOLUTION: This screw rotating device comprises a dry babbitt to be fitted with a head of a screw 1, a bit holder 4 comprising a centering mechanism part 3 for centering the dry babbitt 2 with a degree of freedom in the peripheral direction, a driving part 10 for rotating and driving this bit holder 4, and a frictional contact part 11 brought into contact in the predetermined frictional force and idle running when the load over the frictional force is added thereto, and an electromagnetic clutch is arranged between the bit holder 4 and the driving part for transmitting the rotary driving force from the driving part 10 to the bit holder 4, or disconnecting the transmission.
