ELECTROCHROMIC MATERIAL, ITS PRODUCTION AND ELECTROCHROMIC DISPLAY DEVICE USING THEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic material having high contrast and rapid responsivess and excellent in workability for forming a device by forming a metal oxide layer having fine pores so that the pore diameter frequency distribution of the fine pores has plural peaks. SOLUTION: This electrochromic material has a metal oxide layer having fine pores whose pore diameter frequency distribution has plural peaks. It is suitable that two kinds of micropores and macropores exist in the fine pores of the metal oxide and the radius equivalent to circular of pore diameter in the critical state whether they are the micropores or macropores is about 100Å. It is suitable that at least one of the peaks is a peaks corresponding to a radius equivalent to circular in the range of 1.0×10 to <1.0×102Åand at least, another is a peak corresponding to a radius equivalent to circle in the range of 1.0×102-1.0×104Å.
