PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the dimensions and height difference of an observed image at its various points for a short time by adjusting the light radiation angle of the top end of one of two distance measuring optical fibers so that lights radiated from the two distance measuring optical fibers can be overcrowded at a desired point on an object to be measured. SOLUTION: A light radiation angle adjusting means changes the light radiation angle of only one optical fiber 1a of a pair of two optical fibers 1a, 1b, the radiated light is overcrowded with the radiated light from the optical fiber 1b at a point P1 on the surface of an object O to measure the distance, the lengths of the segments L1, L2 can be calculated by the triangulation method, if the segment W1 length of the optical fibers 1a, 1b (distance between the output light points) and anglesθ1,θ2 are known, the length of the segment L1 corresponds to the distance between the output light of the optical fiber 1b and point P1 of the object O to measure the distance, and hence the distance from the point P1 can be measured by moving the optical fibers 1a, 1b to a desired position of the object O to overcrowd the lights.
