PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a refrigerator interior temperature rise at the time of a defrosting operation by setting a temperature for finishing a refrigerating mode during a precooling operation as a special refrigerating mode finishing temperature, and alternately operating the cooling operation until the precooling operation is finished. SOLUTION: A precooling operation is started. A timer provided in a controller 44 is reset. A measurement is started, and a finishing temperature of a refrigerating mode at a sensor 32 for a refrigerating chamber is deeply shifted to a special refrigerating mode finishing temperature lower by 1 deg.C than a normal refrigerating mode finishing temperature. With the special refrigerating mode finishing temperature as a reference, alternate cooling operations are conducted until the precooling operation is finished. When a timer measures 30 min, if another timer measures 10 hours, the state that the precooling operation is finished is decided, a defrosting heater 38 for the refrigerating chamber is started, and when it arrives at a predetermined temperature, it is finished.
