摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube which strengthens the pressure resistance strength and also effectively decreases a deflectign power, by bringing an inner surface of a funnel as close as possible to the track of an electron beam. SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube is formed such that the larger inner shape of a cone 5a becomes, the closer it proceeds toward the side of a panel 3 from the side of a neck 11, from a circular shape to a non-circular shape having a maximum diameter in a direction apart from the horizontal and vertical direction; the distance from a tube axis Z to an inner surface of a funnel 5 varies according to a nonmonotonic increasing function or a nonmonotonic decreasing function, and a vertical side surface and a horizontal side surface of the inner surface of the funnel swells toward the tube axis Z satisfying relations ofΔH/rd<0.16 andΔV/rd<0.34. In the relations, rd is the distance from the tube axis Z to the inner surface of the funnel 5 in the diagonal direction,ΔH is a maximum height of the vertical side surface from a vertical line which runs through the furthest point of the inner surface of the funnel 5 from the tube axis Z, andΔV is the maximum height of the horizontal side surface from a horizontal line which runs through the furthest point of the inner surface of the funnel 5 from the tube axis Z.
