A method for quantitative determination of a target nucleic acid in a biological sample is new and comprises: (1) amplifying the target using two primers with sequences complementary two individual regions of the target, where at least one of the primers is labeled and the number of labeled primer molecules is known; (2) collecting measurement data on the labeled molecules using at least part of a test solution that has undergone at least one amplification cycle; and (3) determining the number or size of the target nucleic acid molecules on the basis of the measurement data.
