SOLID CATALYST FOR OLEFIN POLYMERIZATION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING OLEFIN POLYMER WITH THE SAME

<p>A solid catalyst (D) for olefin polymerization characterized by being obtained by heating a magnesium compound represented by the general formula MgX2.nH2O (wherein X represents halogeno and n is an integer of 1 to 12) to obtain a magnesium-containing solid ingredient (A) and supporting an organoaluminumoxy compound (B) and a metallocene compound (C) on the ingredient (A); and a process for producing an olefin polymer using the catalyst. The solid catalyst has a high catalytic activity, especially in terms of activity per unit catalyst amount. Polymerization with this catalyst is hence advantageous in that the catalyst cost is low and the step of deashing for catalyst removal, etc. can be omitted. The olefin polymer yielded has a narrow molecular weight distribution, and is homogeneous in monomer unit arrangement when it is a copolymer.</p>
