PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade a disturbance due to a horizontal synchronizing signal from an adjacent track by providing an adjacent noise removal circuit removing a noise reproduced from an adjacent magnetic pattern mixed with the reproduction of a second mode of a speed slower than a first mode. SOLUTION: An inputted regenerative signal S0 is delayed byτa seconds by a delay line 21a to be inputted to the delay line 21b and to be delayed further byτb seconds, and the signal S0 is delayed by the totalτc=(τa+τb) seconds. An adjacent noise detection means 25 detects an adjacent noise component from a regenerative output signal S3 to input a detection signal S1 to a gain control means 26. At this time, whether coefficient amplifiers 22a, or 22b exsisting on any positions is selected is decided based on the delay time of the adjacent noise component from a main signal, and the control processing changing from the amplitude of the adjacent noise component detecting this coefficient is continued until the adjacent noise component isn't detected from the regenerative output signal S3, and the coefficient is changed so as to cancel the adjacent noise component of the regenerative signal S0.
