PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent image being free from the image defect due to transfer defect and having high durability and long life by a specified universal hardness and satisfactory average hardness and the pressure of a specified pressing member rendered. SOLUTION: This device is provided with at least a photosensitive layer and a surface protective layer on a conductive supporting body of an electrophotographic photoreceptor. The device is also provided with a transfer charging member holding at least the recording material in contact with transfer charging means and a pressing member for holding the transfer charging member in press contact with the recording material carrier and the electrophotographic photoreceptor. In such a constitution, the universal hardness value of the surface protection layer on the electrophotographic photoreceptor is obtained beyond 180 N/mm2, and the ten points average hardness stipulated by JIS B0601 is obtained between 0.04 and 10.00μm, and the pressure of the pressure member between 0.3 and 7.0 g/mm2. Moreover, at least, the static charge generating material and the static charge transporting material are contained in the photosensitive layer on the electrophotographic photoreceptor. As the static charge generating material, phthalocyanine pigment polycyclic quinone pigment or the like, and as the static charge transporting material, pyrene compound or the like are quoted.
