PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of aligned axes and to shorten the alignment time by fixing a spherical-tip optical fiber to a fiber block, which is made to abut against a chip mount block mounted with an optical component, where the interval to the optical component is nearly equal to the distance from the tip of the spherical-tip optical fiber to a beam waist, and then performing aligning. SOLUTION: For example, one end surface as the projection surface of a semiconductor optical element 1 has an angle deviationθfrom the reference surface 11 of the chip mount block 2. In this case, one end surface of the fiber block is made to abut against the reference surface 11 of the chip mount block 2 and the center line of each V groove of the fiber block is adjusted almost to the center line of each waveguide 10 of the semiconductor optical element 1. On the V grooves of the fiber block, spherical-tip optical fibers are arrayed and moved and adjusted so that the interval to the semiconductor optical element 1 is nearly equal to the distance from the spherical-tip optical fiber tip to the beam waist.
