PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure for reducing temperature unevenness of a liquid crystal panel of a liquid crystal projector. SOLUTION: Liquid crystal panels 2r, 2g, 2b are arranged enclosing a prism 1 and polarizing plates 3r, 3g, 3b as sets. A cooling fan 10 is provided in the lower part of the prism 1, and the liquid crystal panels 2r, 2g, 2b, etc., are cooled. A U-shaped groove-like cooling air plate 4 is installed between one ridgeline on an end face in an upper part of the prism 1 and an end face of, e.g. the polarizing plate 3g counter thereto. Cooling air f1 from the cooling fan 10, provided in the lower part of the prism 1 flows upwardly on an emission face of the liquid crystal panel 2g, etc., and changes flow to downward direction by the U-shaped groove-like cooling air plate 4, to become cooling air f3 flowing downward on the emission face of the liquid crystal panel 2g, etc. Since the flow of cooling air for cooling the liquid crystal panel becomes reverse in direction between the emission side and a reception side of the liquid crystal panel, temperature unevenness of the liquid crystal panels 2r, 2g, 2b is relayed.
