PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid troublesome operation and to improve the convenience of a computer by selecting and executing a desired program among many application programs by using a smart button. SOLUTION: A keyboard controller 31 judges which of a keyboard 23 and the smart button 25 key input is performed by and generates a corresponding key scan code. When the key input is done by the smart button 25, the key input data are inputted to a smart button virtual driver 43 through an operating system 41 and outputted to a smart shell 51. The smart shell 51 sends the corresponding message in current operation mode to a program selector 53 with the key input data. The program selector 53 executes the application program selected out of the application programs registered in a smart shell window.
