PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that correctly eliminates a fixed pattern noise from the image data by preventing increase in release time lag and decrease in consecutive shot speed due to increase in an integration time and a read time. SOLUTION: A light receiving face of an image sensor 11 that provides an output of photographed image data can be shut by a focal plane shutter 10. Then after photographing with an exposure time longer than prescribed, a system controller 15 activates the focal plane shutter 10 and a dummy is photographed with a proper exposure time when the light receiving plane of the image sensor 11 is shut. The photographed dummy data are used and the image quality of the photographed image data is corrected by the system controller 15.
