PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent double feed of a special paper sheet such as a label paper sheet by providing an auxiliary roller at the rear end of the paper sheet so as to be reversely rotatable, stoppable and pressable, providing a feed roller at the front end of a stacked paper sheet so as to be rotatable and stoppable, and providing a sensor for detecting paper sheet and stopping the auxiliary roller. SOLUTION: A feed roller 1 of a half moon shape is rotated in the paper sheet feeding direction to feed an uppermost paper sheet from a paper cassette 5 with the paper sheets stacked therein. When the roller 1 comes in contact with the uppermost paper sheet and imparts light load to the paper sheet, activation is stopped, and an auxiliary roller 2 positioned at the rear end of the paper sheet is rotated in the paper sheet feeding direction until the paper sheet comes off the roller 2. The flexure of the paper sheet is therefore formed in front of the feed roller 1. The paper sheet tends to return into its original state with restoring force, but since the force of the auxiliary roller 2 is strong, the uppermost paper sheet is conveyed without receiving restoring force. The remaining paper sheet A falls into the cassette 5 since the auxiliary roller 2 is rotated reversely to the paper sheet feeding direction, and the auxiliary roller 2 is reversely rotated until a sensor 6 detects the rear end of the paper sheet.
