PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact retainer of a transit which enables survey maintaining surely a horizontal state when the gradient of a curved part is surveyed by propelling a buried pipe having a small diameter, and does not occupy a place in the buried pipe. SOLUTION: This retainer consists of a substrate 2 which is supported and fixed to the side part of an inner wall surface 19 of a buried pipe 18 by a retaining means 5, an arm body 3 which is so retained rotatably by the substrate 2 that forward and backward rocking is possible, and a table 4 which is so retained rotatably by the arm body 3 that upward and downward rocking is possible and sets and fixes a transit 17 rotatably. The arm body 3 and the table 4 are fixed at a swingably adjusted position by fixing means (7, 8).
