PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new straight-chain alkyl-substituted triazacyclononane- copper complex having high solubility to organic solvent compared with conventional triazacyclononane-copper complex and useful e.g. as a catalyst for oxidation reaction and reduction reaction. SOLUTION: The objective compound is expressed by formula ((n) is >=1; X is a counter anion; (m) is the number of X anions), e.g. 1,4,7-tri-n-butyl-1,4,7- triazacyclononane-copper-dichloride complex. The compound of formula, e.g. the above exemplified compound, can be produced by stirring 1,4,7-tri-n- butyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane monoperchlorate and excess potassium hydroxide in toluene, desalting by filtration, distilling off the solvent in vacuum, adding a methanol solution, homogenizing the mixture, adding a methanol solution containing cupric chloride dehydrate, stirring for 1 hr at room temperature, distilling off the solvent in vacuum after completing the reaction and recrystallizing from diethyl ether.
