PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate the kind of an optical disk and a case to execute suitable recording by judging whether a medium is taken out or not from the case utilizing a discriminating part having history information and verifying correctness of information recorded in the medium in the case of already having been taken out. SOLUTION: A state of a discriminating part of a cartridge is detected with a history judging means 31 to judge whether an optical disk is taken out from a case or not. A message for confirming the will of a user on whether verification is executed or not according to a judged result and contents after verification are displayed with a displaying part 32. Indicating contents are outputted to a verifying means 34 receiving the indication of the user on whether verification is executed or not with a selection indicating means 33. The correctness of information recorded by a recording means 35 according to the indication of the selection indicating means 33 is verified with the verifying means 34, and the verified result is outputted. The verifying means 34 is provided with an error correcting circuit. Normal recording is executed and moreover re-recording is also executed according to the verified result of the verifying means 34 with the recording means 35.
