摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azimuth detecting device which can detect the azimuth of an object more accurately than azimuth compasses do. SOLUTION: An azimuth detecting device is provided with a slit plate 11 forming a bright line that moves as the azimuth of the sun changes and three azimuth detecting photodiodes 2A, 2B, and 2C which are arranged on a project plate 12 upon which the bright line is projected and detect the light and darkness of the bright line correspondingly to the displacement of the line. The project plate 12 is placed on a circuit board 13 and the slit plate 11 is fixed at a prescribed angleαfrom the project plate 12. Since the azimuth detecting device is constituted in the above way, the deviated angle of the sun can be found with accuracy from the positional relation between the elevation angle and absolute azimuth angle of the sun at the time when the outputs of the photodiodes 2A-2C record their maximum values and the reference lines of the sensors 2A-2C by finding the elevation angle and absolute azimuth angle of the sun.
