<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arrange dummy pixels for protecting MIM(metal insulator metal) elements of display pixels from dielectric breakdowns due to static electricity generated during a processing, without impairing the appearance. SOLUTION: Dummy pixels 10' are provided in a part which is in the non- display region of the outside of a display region and which is distant from the terminal of the non-display region. In this case, the distance of the level difference part of an insulating film to be formed along the end part of the electrode which is formed between the insulating film and a first substrate between one pair of electrodes, constituting a two-terminal nonlinear element is made, so that the distance of a two-terminal nonlinear element for dummy, which is to be formed with respect to one dummy pixel is longer than that of a two-terminal nonlinear element for display, which is to be formed with respect one display pixel. Thus, since respective dummy pixels 10' are separately driven by two-terminal nonlinear elements 11' for dummy, which are to be dielectrically brokendown more easily than two-terminal non-linear elements 4 for display, when they receive static electricity, the two-terminal non-linear elements 11' for dummy dielectrically breaks down with priority than the two- terminal non-liner elements 4 for display.</p> |
