PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To spare manufacture of a die assembly of a lid, to facilitate a work, and to reduce the cost of parts, by pressure contacting a hot plate on the lower edge of the lid and the upper edge of a battery jar and melting and denting the upper edge and/or the lower edge abutted on a projecting part of the hot plate and melting the lower edge of the lid and the upper edge of the battery jar, and thereafter by withdrawing the hot plate to allow the lower edge of the lid to abut on the upper edge of the battery jar and to fuse them mutually. SOLUTION: A projecting part 16 is formed on a part of a lower line 3a of a bulkhead 3 of a lid 1 and/or on an upper line 6a of a bulkhead 6 of a battery jar 4. A recess part 20 is formed on one face 21b of a hot plate 21 abutting on the projecting part 16 of the bulkhead 6 and a projecting part 19 is formed on the other face 21a of the hot plate 21 corresponding to the recess part 20. The hot plate 21 is allowed to abut on the lower edge 2a, 3a of the lid 1 and on the upper edge 5a, 6a of the battery jar 4, and the upper edge and/or the lower edge 3a where the projecting part 19 of the hot plate 21 abuts are melted and dented, and the lower edge 2a, 3a of the lid 1 and the upper edge 5a, 6a of the battery jar 4 are melted. Then, the hot plate 21 is withdrawn, to allow the lower edge 2a, 3a of the lid 1 and the upper edge 5a, 6a of the battery jar 4 to abut on each other and to fuse them mutually.
