PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the sealing structure for non-contact end faces. SOLUTION: In a sealing structure for non-contact end faces, which is constructed as a combination of a seal ring 2 made of a material containing carbon and a mating ring 3A made of metallic material such as stainless steel having corrosion resistance and the stability to temperature, the seal ring 2 is whirl-stopped to a seal housing 4 through a knock-pin 12, and is pressed against the mating ring by a spring 5. The mating ring 3A is directly fitted onto a rotary shaft 1, and the sliding surface 3A facing the seal ring 2 is coated with a titanium nitride film. A spiral groove is formed from high pressure side toward low pressure side so that a gaseous film is formed between the sliding surfaces.
