PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eave soffit ventilating structure such that the spread of a fire from the neighborhood or the like can surely be prevented by surely interrupting a ventilating passage which makes the outside communicate to the eave soffit space. SOLUTION: A plate-shaped member 6 is mounted above and almost parallel to an eave soffit material 5 with a predetermined gap therebetween to provide an air flow passage 7, and a thermally foaming refractory material 9 which foams when heated to shut off air is provided in the air flow passage 7. In the event of a fire in the neighborhood, etc., the thermally foaming refractory material 9 is foamed by its heat whereby air in the air flow passage 7 can be shut off. A mounting hole is provided in a part of the eave soffit and a refractory ventilating member having a bottom part with a ventilating hole therein and also having a cover part provided on its upper surface to cover the ventilating hole is provided. The thermally foaming refractory material 9 is provided in a ventilating hole in the cover part. Further, the refractory ventilating member can be assembled only in a place where a perforated eave soffit is necessary, and the thermally foaming refractory material 9 provided in the ventilating hole can surely shut off air, whereby the spread of fires from the neighborhood or the like can surely be prevented.
