PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily retrieve thumbnail pictures in a thumbnail display where thumbnail pictures representing picture recording files are displayed in the order of reproduction. SOLUTION: An index picture 410 can be registered by designating an insert position on thumbnail display and title characters. The information of the index picture 410 is described on a script specifying reproduction sequence. In the case of conducting thumbnail display 401 according to the script, since the thumbnail is displayed while the index picture 410 is displayed at the designated insert position, sections of the files recording pictures can visually and easily be recognized.
