PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive soil type cleaning device for polluted air which can be installed on a medial strip to efficiently purify polluted air. SOLUTION: This soil type air cleaning device 22 is provided with a soil layer 34 extended along a medial strip 16, two polluted air suction passages 30 extended at both sides of the bottom of the soil layer 34, and polluted air- feed passageways 32 stretched between the two polluted air suction passages 30. A plurality of air suction openings 3608 are formed at the positions where respective air suction passages 30 are exposed to the respective carriageways 18. A fan 40 is arranged at the extending end of these soil layer 34, polluted air passages 30, and polluted air-feed passageways 32. The two polluted air suction passages 30 and the intake opening of the fan 40 are connected to each other through a branched part 52A and a main duct 52B pipe. further, the polluted air-feed passageways 32 and the blowout of the fan are connected to each other through a pipe 54. A valve 5 opening or closing the main duct 52B is interposed in the main duct 52B.
