Heating apparatus has a burner fed with a fuel-air mixture. It incorporates a combustion chamber and a heat transmitter between the combustion chamber and the exhaust gas chamber with an outlet. A device raises the exhaust gas temperature in the exhaust gas outlet. The apparatus is formed as a heat-conducting coupling body (20) which connects the combustion chamber (12) heat-conductively with the exhaust gas outlet (19). The coupling body extends by introductions (18) both into the combustion chamber and into the exhaust gas outlet. The coupling body in the combustion chamber and/or in the exhaust gas outlet is more or less covered by adjustable covers (23,24).
