Processed sheet (32) is momentarily halted when fed partially into vertical output tray until it contacts previously fed sheet. It is fed momentarily in opposite direction to allow previously fed sheet (34) to fall back to rest position, and is then fed into output tray (24). Following sheet (32) is taken from input tray (22), fed to processing station, processed there and fed in first direction out of processing station until a section of sheet enters perpendicular output tray (24) and contacts previously fed sheet on tray and starts to drive out previous sheet (34) out of output tray. Sheet (32) momentarily halts, when fed between half and three quarters of path into output tray, to allow previous sheet to fall back to rest position. Then sheet (32) is fed in first direction to completely feed it into output tray. After the momentary halting of sheet (32), it is momentarily fed in direction opposite to first direction before being fed again in first direction, to enter completely into the output tray.
