Sintered metal milling disk production, comprising positioning of cutter inserts in metal powder filled in a pressing die cavity, is new. Production of a milling disk, comprising a sintered metal basic body having a central bore and having hard metal, ceramic or hard material inserts with tips projecting from the disk periphery, comprises (a) filling metal powder into a pressing die cavity, prefabricated inserts being introduced into the filled metal powder and being positioned in the die; (b) pressing to produce a green body; and (c) sintering and optionally hardening and/or surface treating the body. An Independent claim is also included for a milling disk produced by the above process.
