PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device for an endoscope constituted so that the decentering of an object image caused in the midst of using can be corrected without trouble and time and the cost related on the correction of the decentering is reduced. SOLUTION: An image pickup signal obtained by picking up the object image is converted into the video signals of R, G and B which can be displayed on a monitor by a video signal processing circuit 52 and outputted. At this time, the position of the object image included in the image pickup signal is detected by an object image position detection part 67. According to this positional information, the read-out action of the video signals from an image memory 64 is controlled by a synchronizing signal generation circuit 68 so as to position the object image at the almost center of the video signals. Thus, the decentering of the object image is automatically corrected.
