PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power loss, size, and cost of the clamped snubber circuit of a DC AC power-converting device used for DC transmission or the like. SOLUTION: One arm is composed by a switch group, where semiconductor switching elements 2 with a self-arc-extinguishing function, are connected in series, at least two arms are combined for composing a high-voltage power- converting device, and a snubber circuit 10 is provided at both the ends of the semiconductor switching elements 2 in a power-conversion device. In this case, in the snubber circuit 10, a series circuit consisting of a clamp diode 4 and a clamp capacitor 5 is connected at both the ends of the semiconductor switching elements 12, and a nonlinear circuit is connected to both the ends of the clamp capacitor 5. The nonlinear circuit is composed by a nonlinear resistance element or a nonlinear resistance circuit where the nonlinear resistance element and a semiconductor control element 19 are used.
