<p>The invention relates to a racket for ball games, notably a tennis racket, comprising a plurality of lengthwise strings and a plurality of crosswise strings which are substantially perpendicular to the lengthwise strings. The lengthwise strings form points of intersection with the crosswise strings. Elastic intermediate members which are secured against detachment are provided for at the level of at least some of the points of intersection between a lengthwise and a crosswise string. The aim of the invention is to provide a racket of this kind which has a greater variety of playing characteristics. To this end the invention provides for the lengthwise strings and crosswise strings to be made of a material characterized by an elastic longitudinal expansion of no more than 15 % and for the intermediate members to be characterized by an elastic compression of at least 20 % at a pressure of 22 N/mm2, in the direction from a crosswise string to a corresponding lengthwise string.</p> |
